Jan 18, 2020 D&D 5e unfortunately doesn’t add that many immunities any more, for some reason not even ghosts come with immunity to nonmagical weapons. But for them in the older editions, it would simply be a matter of someone swinging at them with a straw, no. In Fungal Wastes, there are pink mushrooms on which the Knight can nail-bounce higher than usual. They must be used as a platform to access the Mantis Village and other locations. After obtaining Mantis Claw and Isma's Tear, most of them become completely useless. Asides from these mushrooms, there are few other times where nail-bouncing is required.

Introduction to the guide
Welcome everyone! If you started playing Katarina or wish to improve your gamestyle, this guide will help you.Why am I writing this guide?Because over last few months I encountered many players who did badly playing this champion. So, here we go :). WHY WOULD I TRUST THIS GUIDE? First of all, I have played Katarina non-stop for over 9 months.<b> So she definitely is my main champion!</b>. Over this time I managed to master her skill, the gamestyle, tips and hints as well as how to possibly counter those CC champions. Just have a look. I had my penta recently: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/31/pentaw.png/ + this guide is updated from time to time.
Pros and Cons
First, the Pros and Cons of Kat: Pros: -Amazing champ! -Easy to get a triple/quadra/penta kill ;). -Shunpo, a versatile spell and a good escape/chasing mechanism. -Not squishy when you start with -Rarely banned on Rankeds -Not too difficult to master -Ridiculous cooldowns ;). -High spell damage. -Deadliest ulti in an entire game! Cons: -Doesn't have any crowd control spells-relies on Rylais -Ulti can be stopped by stun/silence/knockup/taunt. -People tend to focus you once they see the threat. -Not doing a lot of dmg with autoattack since she is a nuke.
Runes
Katarina is an AP champion (possible hybrid or ad, however not as effective as a pure AP), so people might think that she needs LOADS and LOADS and again LOADS of magic penetration. Not necessary there guys! Her spells already do decent damage even without a huge number of magic penetration.30 magic penetration is good and you can easily get that with sorcerer's shoes :). I will show 2-3 ways of possible Runes, Masteries and Items. Lets start with runes: TRADITIONAL RUNES FOR KATA: Mark: 9x magic penetration Seal: 9x armor Glyph: 9x ability power/cooldown reduction Quint: 3x magic penetration. This is the popular choice of runes for Katarina. You get a lot of magic penetration, some armor, and a handful of ability power / cooldown reduction to start with. This will let you deal more damage, but unfortunately, you will be SUPER SQUISHY,meaning that you will die easily and deal no more damage. I call it The Offensive Way of Kata . MY RUNES FOR KATA: Mark: 9x magic penetration Seal: 3x flat health, 6x health regen /5 sec Glyph: 9x cooldown reduction Quint: 2x flat health, 1x health regen/ 5 sec Yes, I'm addicted to playing defensive and staying on mid/lane for as long as possible. I don't play offensive until I reach level 6 (this is where our damage starts!).My rune build will let you stay on a lane for long thanks to 7 hp/ 1 second. You can call it my Balanced Way of Katarina. Remember, if you have more hp than your opponent, then YOU will be the lucker, and not them. Did I mention that thanks to hp regen you don't need to buy any hp potions? (I seriously can't remember when I used my hp potion last time *_*). It is up to you whether you want to play OFFENSIVE or BALANCED way of this champion. I prefer my balanced one, since I have no need to buy potion focusing on items, and I have 709 Hp at level 1.
Masteries ad spells
So here we are with the masteries and spells. TRADITIONAL MASTERIES: 21/0/9
- This combination allows you to deal more damage with Havoc and Archaic Knowledge. Just like in runes, this is Offensive Way and you are still being squishy to your enemy. So obviously not my preference of game style :). MY MASTERIES: 0/21/9 - This is the defensive way masteries WHICH WORKS FANTASTIC!.Tower diving, being yelled at as a lucker, pure dominance and ultimate survival- man it is so much fun to trick the opponents :D. I get an extra 48 hp, Dodge chance, armor/resists, extra ap/attack speed, and reduced dmg (combined with killer instinct and shunpo = icing on a cake). NOTE: Some of you might think that all those balanced ways do no damage. Wrong! It is not about doing lots of damage, but making sure you get a kill. If you die, how will you do further damage? You will just end up with deaths that way. Further information in Item thread.
What Is The Max Dmg Bouncing Blade Does It Show
SPELLS: Ignite:Healing reduction plus damage to those who are low on hp. Use ignite when you first use your ulti on enemy champions(because surely they will try to back off from you, and doesnt have a range of 500000 km). Example: Im on mid against .I harrassed her with my bouncing blade and her health is equal to 50%.I let her push a little bit and then I shunpo her.Activate your ulti. while you throw the daggers you can ignite her without stopping the channel. This will make her heal spell worse(if she has one of course) and she will hardly survive that. Don't forget to throw your when she is at the end of q spell range to ensure additional damage :). Traditional choice for Nukes. This will help us get closer to enemy champions or let us run away.
Items, skills and top tips
Here, let's get straight to my way of Items that I buy. MY BUILD ORDER AND REASONS: A doran's shield is the item that will give you a decent hp,armor and what's more important, a hp regen for early game. When combined with my balanced runes and masteries, you will regenerate 7 hp/1 second as mentioned before. This absolutely allows you to dominate the lane over your opponent. Harrass the opposite player(s) with that you max, make them waste money on hp potions. The balanced runes are the potions themselves :). If you have health, you survive for longer. If you have hp regen, you don't even think about surviving. If you have ap item for start, you deal a little bit more damage while still being squishy to your enemies ( The Offensive Way). So survi = being longer on your lane/mid = gaining exp faster than your opponent) = You kill your opponent with ease. Try to pick mid, because there you gain gold and experience really fast. You have a hp regen thanks to and everything else, so don't go back to base until you have 1100 gold ().DO NOT UNDERDESTIMATE THE POWER OF MAGIC PENETRATION! After the sorcerer's shoes, buy the as soon as possible. You don't need AP yet and extra health is essential to you at this stage. This will go into .Why Rylai's and not mejai?slow, slow, SLOW!This will work fantastic with your ultimate skill making sure you get at least one kill when dealing with a number of enemy champions :).Additional health and slow?YES PLEASE! Now, after you get the Rylais, you should rush for . The aim of my build is to go balanced with defense and offense. This is: -3k life -Over 68 magic penetration -High damage resistance -Having fun :). So!We have Doran's, shoes, Rylai's,and Haunting Guise.Your Ap is moderate, but their magic resistance is practically nothing to you, meaning you do FULL damage. Continue with this order build provided at the top. Now for those who wish to play Katarina and are quite new to this champion I put a list of her skills and how to use them effectively: Bouncing Blade: First to max skill.Use this to last hit minions on mid and to harrass enemy champion. Don't forget to combine it with killing instinct to ensure max dmg :).The blades will hit the target and jump on to other targets depending on skill level. adds 30% ability power + 50% additional attack damage from items. Killer instincts: this is to be used with Q and E.With the blades, they will do max damage to all targets(otherwise the damage will be lowered every time it hits.) and in combination with shunpo, you receive 15-35% reduced damage for 3 seconds. This makes a good combination with W+E+R+Q (q if they are escaping too far or you forgot/cannot cast ignite) Shunpo: teleports Katarina to a target minion/champ/ward.If it is an enemy, shunpo will deal damage (plus 75% of your ability power). Death Lotus: Katarina's main skill.Katarina will be throwing High-Damage knives at 3 closest enemy champions for 3 seconds. However this spell is channeled, which means that any stun/taunt/silence will stop your ulti immediatly.BUT DON'T WORRY!YOU CAN EASILY AVOID YOUR ULTI INTERUPTANCE WITH JUST WAITING FOR THE ENEMY TO STUN YOU. Once you have been stunned the enemy will probably be stupid enough to attack you. Activate your ulti, cast ignite, and look at your enemies' health going down extremely fast :).Don't forget, while you channel your ulti, click q and see when enemy is trying to escape. Once the target is at the very end of the range, cast the q spell to ensure he dies. The ulti gains 30% ability power bonus + 55% bonus attack damage from items. Now let's do the guide and top tips: You start a game. You choose Katarina as soon as possible. You order yourself a mid line as soon as possible and you refuse to go top/bottom as soon as possible.Don't even ask why yet. Once you are summoned to the Field of Justice, buy yourself a Doran's shield and take Bouncing Blade. You are a katarina so champions like: - - - - - - - - are nothing against you.Whether they like it or not, without a jungler or anyone to help them they are just a few minutes before being killed by you. Wait for minions to spawn and keep behind.Until lvl 6 just keep throwing a bouncing blade at the minions with low hp.At higher levels you may use that to do both last hitting minions and harrasing the opponent champion as well :). Do not push too far though before level 6 especially if the opponent team has stealth guys like Twitch, Evelynn, etc. because they might gank you easily and we don't really want that do we? Ok, you gained lvl 6 what now?: 1.The mid enemy is well pushed and I have 1100 gold = back to base and buy sorcerer's shoes + go back to mid.
What Is The Max Dmg Bouncing Blade Does It Go
2.I have killed the mid enemy and I have 1100 gold = buy sorcerer's shoes and go to bot/top.Yes, it's time to hunt down those low level champions ;). 3.I killed/made my enemy go back to base but I dont have 1100 gold= stay at your lane and don't back. Buying just the boots of speed is a waste of time.
What Is The Max Dmg Bouncing Blade Does It Start
Right, so you have level 6-8,you already killed the mid champion, and killed the 2 champions on top/bottom. What you are meant to do now, is you have to pay attention to your health again.Buy a Giant's Belt which will go into . As mentioned before, continue with the build, and choose whether you want to play Offensive or Balanced. This should be it so a Conclusion..
Summary
Thanks for reading this guide and I hope you find it useful.Special thanks to WrathofVulks :). Please vote and comment I will be grateful for that, + I'm sure to update this if you find anything which is not right. Pachaaa :).
Katarina's a relatively new hero, and not quite as popular as her, uh, 'gifted' companion Corki. Many people believe that she's UP, but she's very much a powerhouse in her own regard and hopefully this guide will help you master her. Role Katarina's role in a game is simple - she's a ganker/finisher. She CAN carry for her team if she has a brilliant early game with a lot of kills and assists, but don't expect it every game. More importantly, she CANNOT initiate for the team. You should never be the first person to engage the enemy team in a pitched 5v5 battle ala Malphite, your job instead is to sneak in unawares and quickly take out priority targets. As the game progresses, you'll steadily gain more team presence as your ultimate increases dramatically in power, until eventually you'll be hitting as many as 3 enemies at once for tons of damage multiple times per battle. Due to her fragile HP, Katarina should never be expected to tank for the team. Even so, you should expect to be targeted first in every battle due to how much of a nuisance you are. We will have to choose our items carefully so that we can survive the initial assault, as well as use Shunpo and Flash to back off if the heat gets too much. Playstyle Katarina is very much a hit-and-run kind of character, so don't play her as someone who charges into battle defiantly and never looks back. The best way to practice this is during the laning section - outlined below. A unique thing about Katarina is that none of her spells cost any mana. This means that the only thing limiting when you can use her spells is their cooldowns, which are reduced by her passive. This is balanced by the fact that her skills are weaker than similar skills which require mana. In other words, in order to get the maximum use out of her spells, you MUST use her skills effectively every time they are not in cooldown. This is the hardest part of playing as Katarina, and will make or break a good player. Skills Q - Bouncing Blade - Katarina throws a dagger that bounces from enemy to enemy dealing her weapon damage + bonus magic damage. Subsequent hits do 15% reduced damage. The number of enemies hit and the magic damage scales with skill level. This is the first of your damage spells. It has multiple uses - harassing an enemy in lane, last-hitting a creep, farming (with a DPS build) and most importantly - finishing off an enemy. This skill scales with weapon damage, and is unaffected by AP. This has the second shortest cooldown of her spells. W - Killer Instincts - Passive: Katarina's attack speed is increased each time she consecutively hits the same target. Active: Katarina's next basic spell has a bonus effect. Bouncing Blade does full damage to every target hit and reduces incoming healing to the target, or after using Shunpo Katarina's dodge chance is increased for 3 seconds. A strange skill. The passive ability is useful for DPS Katarina builds, but be warned - the bonus attack speed only lasts for 5 seconds. The best use for this is when taking down towers. The W + Q active combo is generally less useful than the other, and is only good if you have good weapon damage. The healing reduction is very situational, though it will be good vs. a heal-heavy line-up. The W + E active combo can be quite useful in a team battle, as it gives you significant dodge (70% at level 5) for 3 seconds. This could give you the precious few seconds it takes for her ultimate to kill someone, allowing you to safely Shunpo away with another W + E combo. This has the second longest cooldown of her spells, so be sure you use it at the right time. E - Shunpo - Katarina instantly moves to her target location. If the target is an enemy, she deals damage. Katarina's signature skill. You will be using this one more than any other. From last-hitting in lane, to harassing enemies and positioning yourself to cast your ultimate in the middle of a team battle - this skill does it all. And of course, it's a beast of a chasing ability - especially when paired with a 40% slow from Rylai's Scepter. Most importantly - this spell scales with a 1:1 AP ratio, and has the lowest cooldown of all her spells (3 seconds at level 5 with 40% cooldown reduction!). Imagine a nuke that does 300+ damage every 3 seconds and positions you right next to an enemy so you can hit him.. R - Death Lotus - Katarina goes into a state of extreme focus, throwing daggers with unrivaled speed at one enemy champion per level of the spell. Channeling. Katarina's most controversial spell. This spell has a very low range, is channeling (which means it can be stopped by a stun or an ability that forcibly moves your character) and seemingly does low damage. So does it actually suck? Hell, no! At 40 seconds, the cooldown on this ultimate is incredibly low for the kind of spell it is. This is further augmented by her passive, which allow you to instantly cast the ultimate again if two enemies you've hit in the last 15 seconds die before the ultimate runs out. This is exactly why Katarina is so powerful in team battles. It's even powerful in the laning stage, and I'll describe why shortly. The ultimate scales at a 0.15 AP ratio which might seem low at first, but is actually more than enough for our purposes. (Passive) - Voracity - Every time a champion Katarina has damaged in the last 15 seconds dies, she gains 50 gold and her cooldowns are reduced by 20 seconds. Arguably the best passive in the game, hands down. Katarina's entire playstyle revolves around this passive - the 50 gold per assist means that she earns a ton of money from successful ganks, and the cooldown reduction means that she can spam her skills like crazy leading to very stylish kills. For example, consider a champion at low life hiding behind his tower, confident that if you were to Shunpo to him, he would gain gold from the tower killing you despite him dying. And then you use your W + E combo to kill him, dodging most of the tower hits, killing him in one hit, and then reactivating W + E again to safely blink away. Katarina lives her life on the edge and loves every moment of it! Summoner Spells As a ganker, you are naturally inclined towards Exhaust, Flash, and Teleport. Exhaust will help you net kills early, but its function can be easily obtained from a Rylai's Scepter, which gives you a much more spammable slow once you are able to buy it. Flash can be used both for chasing and escaping, and its extremely valuable when Shunpo is in CD (rare) or when there are no minions around to Shunpo to. Since Katarina is a squishy hero I always get this spell as a backup escape ability. Teleport minimizes the amount of time you spend walking back from the base, which means you get all that much more time to gank. It also enables you to quickly disappear from one lane and pop up in another, which can net you a few kills early game. Runes You mostly want to focus on runes that reduce cooldown - Runes of Focus and Runes of Celerity. The rest of the slots should be filled according to whether you're going the DPS build (+crit damage, armor penetration runes) or an AP build (+AP, magic pen. runes). Masteries Nothing fancy here, the typical 9 - 0 - 21 build. In particular, you want access to Sorcery, Archaic Knowledge, Intelligence, and Presence of the Master. Items I'm not going to suggest hard-and-fast builds here, as they will vary from game to game. Instead, let's look at what items are best suited for Katarina. But first.. DPS or AP? This is an issue of some contention. It is my firm belief that Katarina is much more effective with an AP build. It fits her playstyle much better - quick, accurate deep strikes with Shunpo rather than prolonged 1v1 battles and also boosts her ultimate. With a DPS build you'll have a much stronger Bouncing Blade, but that has a significant cooldown compared to your normal hits, so you'll end up doing most of your damage via normal hits anyway. The DPS build is boosted by the passive aspect of Killer Instincts, but that has a duration of only 5 seconds, which means that it will only be effective in a 1v1 battle where the enemy chooses to fight you instead of run. Note that Katarina simply doesn't have the skills or stats to survive in a 1v1 battle, unless you stock up heavily on dodge and leech. In such situations, the ultimate is more of a hindrance than a help, as time spent using the ultimate is time spent not leeching, and the ultimate will do less damage than your normal hits without AP. So to summarize: If you go the DPS route, focus on damage, dodge and lifesteal items. Do not use your ultimate once you've managed to get your first or second damage item (or about two BF Swords-worth of damage). Suggested DPS Items Regrowth Pendant Ninja Tabi BF Sword BF Sword -> Infinity Edge Bloodthirster Zeal Zeal -> Phantom Dancer/Trinity Force Now for my preferred build (where you can actually use the ultimate at full capacity instead of ignoring it outright): Suggested AP Items Regrowth Pendant Kage's Lucky Pick Ninja Tabi/Sorcerer's Shoes Rylai's Scepter Mejai's Soulstealer (Credit to Shillen (http://beta.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=13595#)) Spirit Visage Sheen -> Lich Bane Regrowth Pendant -> Warmog's Living Armor Sunfire Cape/Force of Nature/Banshee's Veil The Kage's Lucky Pick gives a slight boost to your AP, as well as gives you a steady source of income so you can focus on ganking instead of farming. If you're doing extraordinary well early game, you can even buy 3 Kage's Lucky Picks within ~12 minutes and then steamroll the opposition with a quick Rylai's Scepter followed by a Zhonya's Ring. Of course, this won't work against a good team. Choose your shoes depending on how many DPS heroes the enemies have. I usually try to get Sorcerer's. Rylai's Scepter is THE core item for AP Katarina. It adds some much-needed health, as well as allows her to slow with every single one of her abilities. The faster you can get this item, the more assured kills you will get. With a Spirit Visage you can reduce Shunpo's CD to 3.5 seconds. Its usually a good item to get against a lot of casters, but not really required. Lich Bane is another important item for AP Katarina. It allows you to dish out a lot of pain after every Shunpo. If the game is prolonged, you will need to get a Warmog's Living Armor. By now your role in team battles is well-known to the enemy, and they WILL focus you. You need the armor to survive the assault and pull off your Death Lotuses. For extremely late games, get a Sunfire Cape or a Force of Nature depending on whether enemy DPSers or casters are more of a problem. I would have suggested Zhonya's Ring here, but that's more of an item you get when you know you're definitely going to win and want to show off by obliterating the entire enemy team yourself.
A couple suggested items that you didn't mention are mejai's soulstealer and banshee's veil. It is really easy to get killing blows with shunpo so soulstealer is by far the best AP item you can get for your gold. I usually just get sheen then soulstealer then finish lich bane (all this after rylai's of course). Banshee's veil is incredibly helpful against any team that has multiple disables. Getting disabled is pretty much the only way you can die and they can completely negate your ultimate. Banshee's veil also buffs hit points so you could even get it in place of warmog's.
I've only had one game where I needed an item after a Sunfire Cape, and I chose to get an Atma's Impaler to turn my 4k+ HP into damage. Choose at your own digression.
